CTOnews.com, October 5 (Xinhua)-- the Connectivity Standards Alliance and its members, including Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung and other smart home manufacturers, today announced the official launch of the Matter 1.0 standard for smart home accessories.

Companies that agree to support Matter now have all the resources they need to start implementing Matter on their platforms, and Apple is expected to integrate Matter into HomeKit soon. In fact, iOS 16. 1 has laid the foundation for Matter, so Matter is likely to be announced with the release of the update.

Tobin Richardson, President and CEO of the Connectivity Standards Alliance, said: "as a task to unravel the complexity of connections, Matter has been born, this is a single, IP-based global agreement that will fundamentally change the Internet of things. This version is the first step for our community and industry to make the Internet of things simpler, safer, and more valuable, no matter who you are, no matter where you live. With the support of companies large and small around the world, today's Matter version 1.0 is more than just a milestone for our organization and members. "

With the release of Matter 1.0, authorized test labs are now available for product certification, tools are available, and the open source reference design SDK has been completed. Alliance members who have deployed devices and plan to update their products with Matter support can do so once their products are certified.

Matter is an Internet of things standard designed to improve the interoperability of smart devices between brands, so HomeKit devices can be used with other smart home devices from Google, Amazon, and other companies. Matter works through Wi-Fi and Thread, Wi-Fi allows smart home devices to communicate with the cloud, and Thread provides an energy-efficient and reliable mesh network in the home.

CTOnews.com was informed that the Connectivity Standards Alliance said that the first version of Matter will support a variety of smart home products such as lighting, HVAC controls, curtains, safety and security sensors, door locks, media devices, controllers and bridges.
