CTOnews.com, Oct. 4 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft claims that Sony and Nintendo will still be the "biggest" in "traditional games" even after its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard is approved.

Microsoft recently launched a new website to express what it sees as the benefits of acquiring Activision Blizzard, as the deal continues to be reviewed by global competition regulators. Microsoft's arguments include claims that the deal will be "good for the gaming industry" and will bring "greater competition in traditional games, where Sony and Nintendo will remain the biggest players".

It is not entirely clear what Microsoft means by "maximum", which may mean that Microsoft believes that Sony and Nintendo will continue to sell more consoles than them in the future, or simply that they are the "biggest" competitors.

Microsoft's new website has the slogan "our vision for games: more choices and more games for people around the world" and tries to argue that the acquisition will benefit more people, not just Xbox users.

Microsoft said: "players and developers are the center of Xbox, and we want to enable people to play games on any device, anytime, anywhere." Developers should have more options to build, distribute, and make their groundbreaking games profitable. When we do this, we all win. That's why we need to share more information about the industry and how our acquisition of Activision Blizzard fits our gaming strategy. "

Microsoft also said on the site that the acquisition would benefit players and be able to "play more games on more devices, including Xbox, PlayStation, mobile phones and web pages."

When referring to Game Pass, Microsoft also said it would provide more "options for people to buy games through subscriptions and one-time purchases", as well as "game products that replace mainstream mobile platforms" on iOS and Android.

Microsoft said the deal would bring "an emphasis on a positive workplace culture" and "increased local investment by Microsoft in studios and creative ecosystems around the world".

It was reported earlier this week that PlayStation boss Jim Ryan flew to Brussels in September to meet with EU regulators and is reviewing Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

According to Dealreporter, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment visited EU headquarters on Sept. 8 to express Microsoft's concerns about the proposed $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Its concerns about the deal revolve around the future release of the call of Duty series, which is often PlayStation's annual bestseller and whether it will be withdrawn from their platforms.

Last month, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said Microsoft had promised to provide "call of Duty" on PlayStation for a few more years after Sony's marketing agreement with Activision expires. However, SIE CEO Ryan is reported to be seeking a future call of Duty game on equal terms and in a permanent way, publicly responding that Microsoft's claim to keep the series on PlayStation consoles is "inadequate in many ways".

CTOnews.com learned that the European Commission had set November 8 as a temporary deadline for adjudication on the transaction.
