CTOnews.com, Oct. 4 (Xinhua)-- Meta Platforms plans to close an office in New York after scaling back its New York expansion plans, according to people familiar with the matter.

Meta has been integrating its staff in New York, setting up an office in Hudson Square and advancing plans for the Farley Building near Pennsylvania Station. However, Bloomberg noted that the company has been withdrawing some of its growth plans in the city.

"We are working to ensure focused and balanced investments to support our most strategic long-term priorities," Meta spokesman Jamila Reeves said in an emailed statement on Monday. Meta remains "firmly committed to New York and further consolidating our local footprint".

CTOnews.com learned that at the same time as the planned shutdown, Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg) was seeking comprehensive reforms, including restructuring the team and reducing the company's headcount for the first time.

According to previous reports, Zuckerberg said at his weekly question-and-answer session with employees that Meta would freeze hiring and restructure some teams to cut costs and refocus. According to reports, the scale of Meta by 2023 is likely to be smaller than this year, which will be the first large-scale budget cut since the establishment of Facebook in 2004.
