CTOnews.com, October 3 (Xinhua) accessory maker Hyper is recalling its 65W and 100W HyperJuice stackable gallium nitride chargers and 130W portable battery because product design problems may cause them to overheat while charging. Hyper said this could lead to a "potential fire hazard".

Stackable products affected include 65W and 100W GaN chargers, which were originally launched in 2021. Each model has a straight-through AC power outlet with a rated power of up to 1500W for stacking multiple devices together. Each 100W charging unit has three USB-C ports and 18W USB-A ports, while each 65W charging unit includes two USB-C ports and one USB-A port.

The USB-C 130W portable battery released in 2019 provides the battery capacity of the 27000mAh. It includes two USB-C ports and one USB-A port.

If the user has a HyperJuice stackable GaN charger or 130W portable battery, Hyper will provide an one-time store credit for the full amount of the purchase price. For those users who are no longer interested in owning Hyper products, there is no cash refund option.

CTOnews.com learned that Hyper sold about 18200 stackable chargers and 13700 portable battery according to the recall website. Two portable battery overheated, causing smoke, melting and property damage, and there were seven reports on stackable chargers. There are no immediate reports of casualties.

Due to the risk of fire, consumers should immediately stop using all recalled products. Applicable to related equipment purchased from October 2020 to August 2022.

Hyper is providing customers with prepaid shipping labels to return the affected equipment. When the product is returned, the store credit will be issued, and if the product is no longer available, a certificate of purchase will be issued.
