CTOnews.com news on October 2, according to the China manned Space Engineering Office, in order to meet the needs of follow-up missions of the manned space program, the selection of the fourth batch of preparatory astronauts in China has been launched recently.

A total of 12 to 14 preparatory astronauts were selected, including 7 to 8 space pilots, 5 to 6 space flight engineers and load experts, including about 2 load experts. Space pilots are selected from the active service pilots of the army, navy and air force, and space flight engineers are selected from scientific research and engineering technicians who specialize in aerospace engineering and related fields. Load experts are selected among researchers engaged in space science research and application-related fields.

The selection of preparatory astronauts, uniformly organized and implemented by the China manned Space Engineering Office, is expected to be completed in about a year and a half, and load experts are selected in Hong Kong and Macao for the first time.

CTOnews.com learned that astronaut selection, also known as astronaut selection, refers to the process of selecting pilots who have the conditions for astronaut selection and making them truly qualified for astronauts according to certain criteria and procedures. Astronaut selection, including the selection of preparatory astronauts who are qualified for training from a specific population, and the selection of flight crew for a space mission, involves many disciplines such as clinical medicine, space medicine, psychology and so on.

To become a real astronaut, you have to go through two stages of selection. The first stage of selection is to select qualified candidates from ordinary candidates to become preparatory astronauts; the second stage of selection is to select real astronauts who can undertake flight tasks from the preparatory astronauts after long-term astronaut training.
