CTOnews.com, October 1, according to 9to5google, Google's Stadia Games and Entertainment department rejected Hideo Kojima's application for the development of a follow-up content project exclusive to Hideo Kojima before closing down.

Hideo Kojima was supposed to develop a sequel to "death stranded" for Google's Stadia cloud game platform, which will be exclusive on the Stadia platform. However, Google later cancelled the cooperation plan because Google believes that such single-player games no longer have enough market.

Google announced on Thursday that it would shut down its cloud gaming service Stadia early next year, further cutting costs to save money, CTOnews.com reported.

A source told 9to5Google that the game under development on Kojima was originally a follow-up to Stadia's exclusive "death stranded" and was a strict single-player game.

It was reported that the game had received preliminary approval from Google and began an early stage of development, but Google cancelled the project completely shortly after showing its first model in mid-2020, on the grounds that single-player games were no longer available.

There were earlier reports that Kojima was interested in investing in Stadia, which would be a "chapter horror game", and Kojima was excited about the potential of working with cloud technology, but Stadia general manager Phil Harrison insisted on canceling the follow-up to "death stranded".
