CTOnews.com, Oct. 1, according to GalaxyClub, Samsung has applied to WIPO (World intellectual property Organization) for a patent for a new telephoto camera with sensor shift technology.

The patent discloses a camera module, comprising a camera assembly of a lens, an image stabilization component comprising a first substrate and a movable member, which includes an image sensor electrically connected to the first substrate, wherein the image stabilization assembly is connected to the lens assembly so that the optical axis is at least partially aligned with the image sensor. The image stabilization component may be configured to move the movable member in at least one direction perpendicular to the optical axis so that the optical axis is aligned with a specified position of the image sensor.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple for the first time introduced sensor displacement image stabilization technology into the iPhone 12 Pro Max wide-angle lens, which stabilizes the camera by sensor displacement rather than the lens to achieve better image stabilization and improve photo quality.

By this year's iPhone 14 Pro / Max, Apple has installed the technology on its 4800-megapixel camera, and it is the second generation. However, the technology has led to camera shaking problems in some iPhone, which Apple has fixed in version 16.0.2 of iOS. In addition, the iPhone 14 Pro / Max telephoto lens does not have this technology.

Just because Samsung applied for a new patent doesn't mean the technology will be available on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but we can expect that if it does, it will be the world's first model with a shift-resistant telephoto lens with sensors.

It was previously revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to use the 200MP main camera, which is 3C certified to support up to 25W output.
