According to KuaiBao, India's prime minister today announced the official launch of the country's 5G mobile service on the first day of the 2022 India Mobile Congress (IMC), CTOnews.com reported on October 1.

The 5G service will be launched in India today and will be available to nearly 75% of the population by the end of this year.

In the first phase, 5G will first be launched in 13 cities:

Bangalore, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Gandinagar, Gurgram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Chennai, Delhi, Calcutta, Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow

India's Bharti Telecom (Airtel) said it would launch 5G services in eight cities from October 1. Jio, an Indian telecom company, has pledged to provide 5G services to India by December 2023. Vodafone Creative has not confirmed the launch date of its 5G plan.

According to foreign media 91mobiles, 5G services are likely to be based on equipment made in India and provide data speeds ten times faster than 4G. In addition, 5G will bring seamless coverage, high data speed, low latency and reliable communication.

CTOnews.com learned that in July this year, India opened a 5G spectrum auction. The auction will include 20-year 72097.85MHz spectrum, including 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 GHz bands.
