A team from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida conducted a preliminary inspection on Friday to assess the potential impact of Hurricane Ian, NASA officials said today. Artemis 1's flight hardware was not damaged, the facilities were in good condition, and only a few places found slight water intake.

Next, NASA engineers will expand the access platform around the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft in the rocket assembly building to prepare for additional inspections and begin preparations for the next launch attempt.

NASA said that with the end of the resumption work, it has been decided to focus the Artemis 1 launch plan on the launch window from November 12 to November 27. Over the next few days, managers will assess the exact date of the next launch attempt.

CTOnews.com learned that after a number of fuel leaks, NASA finally successfully completed the SLS fuel test, and Artemis 1 was about to launch, only to be hit by a hurricane, so the launch window from September 23 to September 27 could not be guaranteed and had to be delayed.

Artemis 1 marks the first launch of NASA's giant carrier rocket SLS, which will launch a spacecraft called Orion into orbit far from the moon. No astronauts took part in this mission, but only as a test for a follow-up mission.
