CTOnews.com October 1 news, Google suddenly announced yesterday that it will shut down its cloud game service Stadia, even many game developers are not aware of it.

After the incident, game maker Ubisoft announced that it was stepping up support for game transfer to help players transfer Ubisoft games purchased on Stadia to PC.

Jessica Roache, senior corporate communications manager at Ubisoft, said in an interview with The Verge:

Although Stadia will be closed on January 18, 2023, we are pleased to tell you that we are currently working to bring the games you have on Stadia to PC through Ubisoft Connect. We will share more details about the transfer and its impact on Ubisoft+ subscribers in the future.

CTOnews.com has learned that Google has promised to return to players all Stadia hardware purchased through the Google App Store, as well as all games and additional content purchased in the Stadia Store, but game archives and other things cannot be retained. It is hoped that the transfer of Ubisoft can transfer the archives together.

Currently, Google has no plans on how to handle the refund, but it will notify affected users via email and update its support page in the near future. Google hopes to process most of the refunds by mid-January 2023.

"Google will close the Stadia cloud game project, and the relevant developers say they have no knowledge of the plan."
