CTOnews.com, September 30, Reuters quoted sources as saying that Tesla plans to produce 495000 Model Y and Model 3 worldwide in the fourth quarter, much higher than in the third quarter, and plans to build 1.6 million Model Y and Model 3 worldwide in the first three quarters of 2023. Tesla had no immediate comment.

According to the production plan, Tesla's production growth in 2023 will exceed the expected growth of the global car market by nearly 10 times, or more than 50 per cent.

Tesla plans to significantly increase global production of its best-selling Model Y and Model 3 electric cars in the fourth quarter and increase production at new plants in Austin and Berlin in 2023, based on that target, according to the company's internal plans.

If this goal is successfully achieved, Tesla is expected to meet Musk's production target in the next quarter, and Tesla will be close to German luxury carmaker BMW by the end of 2023.

CTOnews.com learned that Musk had set goals many times before, but Tesla didn't always achieve them. In April, for example, Mr Musk said Tesla's delivery was likely to grow by 60 per cent, and that target had been adjusted to 50 per cent by July.

The company expects production of 1.59 million Model Y and Model 3 vehicles by the first three quarters of next year and more than 2.1 million electric vehicles by the end of 2023.

At the end of May, Mr Musk said new factories in Texas and Germany were losing billions of dollars, comparing them to a "huge melting pot of money".

Brokerage Piper Sandler expects Tesla to deliver 354000 vehicles in the third quarter, Citi expects to deliver 369800 vehicles, and Tesla Watch analyst Troy Troy Teslike expects Tesla's Model Y and Model 3 sedan sales to reach 343779.

If Tesla meets or exceeds these analysts' forecasts and meets the internal target seen by Reuters, the company's global sales will reach about 1.4 million vehicles by 2022.
