CTOnews.com, Sept. 30, according to the defective Product Management Center of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, according to the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products, Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Daqing Volvo Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will recall 4720 vehicles.

Among them, Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled some of the 2020 and 2021 imported XC90 vehicles produced from June 4, 2019 to March 8, 2021, totaling 1379.

Daqing Volvo Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. recalled some of the 2020 and 2021 domestic S60 vehicles produced from May 15, 2019 to September 1, 2020, a total of 294. Recall some 2020 domestic S90 long-wheelbase vehicles produced from March 28, 2019 to October 8, 2019, a total of 2109.

Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 2020 domestic XC60 cars produced from February 25, 2019 to September 24, 2020.

It is reported that some plug-in hybrid vehicles within the scope of this recall have internal short circuits in the power battery module, which may lead to overheating of the battery module when the power battery is in a high energy state, which in extreme cases leads to thermal runaway of the power battery and safety risks.

CTOnews.com learned that starting from September 30, 2022, automakers will temporarily upgrade their software for free to vehicles within the scope of the recall to reduce the risk of thermal runaway. At the same time, starting from May 1, 2023, all power battery modules will be replaced free of charge for vehicles within the recall to eliminate safety risks.

In addition, Volvo recommends that users avoid plugging in the vehicle before downloading the software. At the same time, users should contact Volvo authorized dealers as soon as possible to carry out software upgrades.
