CTOnews.com, Sept. 30 (Xinhua)-- Intel's new technology enables the computer to turn on automatically when the user sits down and turn off automatically when the user walks away, with the help of the standard Wi-Fi hardware in its 13th generation Core processor.

This technology is called Wi-Fi Proximity Sensing (or Wi-Fi Sensing), which translates to Wi-Fi proximity perception, which can tell when you are near your computer and when you leave the computer. The editor of foreign media PC Gamer actually experienced this function in Intel's laboratory in Haifa, Israel. As soon as you walk in front of the computer, the computer will wake up from sleep, appear on the desktop or lock the screen. Then if you walk away, the computer will go back to sleep 30 seconds after you leave.

The technology is currently only available on the 13th-generation Cooler platform, using the standard Intel Wi-Fi network interface chip included in the 13th-generation Coolie processor, and Intel will soon introduce drivers that enable the technology, which will be supported by most devices that use the processor. However, it should be difficult for the old processor to achieve this function.

Intel did not say whether the feature would only detect humans or pets. Or, if you often stay away from the computer for a long time while playing games, it may not be appropriate to turn on this feature. In any case, this feature is free and can reduce the power consumption of the system.

At the Intel ON Technology Innovation Summit held on the 28th, Intel unveiled the 13th generation Intel Core processor product family. Intel's 13th generation Intel Core family includes six unlocked desktop processors with up to 24 cores, 32 threads and up to 5.8 GHz. Intel's 13th generation Intel Core uses the mature Intel 7 process process and x86 high-performance hybrid architecture, with up to 15 per cent and 41 per cent improvement in single-threaded and multithreaded performance, respectively. The 13th generation Intel Core K series desktop processors and Intel Z790 chipsets will go on sale on October 20, including boxed processors, motherboards and desktop systems.
