Officials said that this marks that China's first trunk jet developed in full accordance with international advanced airworthiness standards has been approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, meets the requirements of the 25th Airworthiness Standard for Transport aircraft (CCAR-25-R3) of the Civil Aviation regulations of China, has an acceptable level of safety, and can participate in civil air transport activities.

The C919 airliner is a medium-and short-range commercial trunk twin-engine jet developed by China and with independent intellectual property rights. it successfully made its maiden flight on May 5, 2017, and obtained the first model inspection approval on November 27, 2020.

At present, the C919 has 28 customers and a cumulative order of 815 aircraft. According to the current plan, the first aircraft will also be delivered to China Eastern Airlines, the first operator, by the end of the year, while China Eastern is likely to put the new aircraft into operation for the first time in the first quarter of 2023.

CTOnews.com learned that at present, the C919 has completed a five-year forensic flight test, waiting to be issued with a model certificate. According to China Business News, the C919 will collect evidence as soon as this month and plan to deliver its first aircraft to its first customer, China Eastern Airlines, this year.

According to the announcement issued by China Eastern Airlines in May, it plans to introduce 4 C919 domestic large aircraft and 24 ARJ21 domestic regional airliners at a catalogue price of 653 million yuan.

China Eastern Airlines said that the aircraft models to be introduced in this private offering include domestic C919 aircraft and ARJ21-700s, which will help the company to continue to firmly support the national strategy of domestic large aircraft and promote the development of domestic large aircraft industry clusters.

The full name of the C919 aircraft is COMAC919, which is a large jet civil aircraft developed by China in accordance with international civil aviation regulations and with independent intellectual property rights. It has a seat class of 158168 seats and a range of 4075-5555 km.
