On Wednesday, local time, Amazon said at the annual display of new products in the device business that the new Kindle Scribe will be shipped later this year at a price of $339 (about 2437.41 yuan). The new reader has a 10.2-inch screen and a stylus that can be magnetically attached to one side of the screen.

Amazon said Kindle Scribe users will be able to import personal documents from their phones or computers to add tags to e-books, Word documents, web pages and other documents. Other manufacturers that have launched handwriting readers include Japan's Rakuten Group and Norwegian startup Remarkable AS.

Amazon launched its first-generation Kindle in 2007, when it made its first foray into the consumer electronics market. At present, e-readers are no longer Amazon's focus in the hardware field. Amazon later launched a range of hardware products, including Echo smart speakers and other devices integrated with Alexa voice assistants, streaming TV rods, visual doorbells, and the limited release of the home robot Astro.

Earlier this month, Amazon announced an upgrade to Kindle's main product line, as well as new products designed for children. These versions of the Kindle are not equipped with a stylus, and users need to type on the touchscreen keyboard to mark the document.
