Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com September 29, iOS 16 has a new automatic authentication feature that automatically verifies users' devices and Apple ID accounts in a private manner through iCloud, bypassing CAPTCHA prompts. The purpose of this function is to eliminate the behavior of proving that the user is a real person rather than a robot by clicking on a traffic light image.

According to MacRumors, automatic authentication is limited to websites and applications that support private access tokens, but the adoption of this feature should be strongly promoted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare announced today that it will provide a free API-- called Turnstile for any website that wants to eliminate CAPTCHA, even if the site is not a customer of Cloudflare.

CTOnews.com learned that Cloudflare explained in a blog post how the technology works:

Private access tokens are built directly into the Turnstile. Although Turnstile must view some session data (such as headers, user agents, and browser characteristics) to authenticate users, private access tokens allow us to minimize data collection by asking Apple to authenticate the device for us. In addition, Turnstile never looks for cookie (such as logging in to cookie), or uses cookie to collect or store any type of information.

Starting today, Turnstile begins Beta testing through the Cloudflare dashboard or registration form.

Automatic validation is enabled by default on iPhone running iOS 16 and can be found under Settings-Apple ID-password and Security-automatic Verification. Apple said the feature is also supported by iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura, which are still in Beta testing and will be released in October.
