He says the new FDD Smart 8T8R technology can use electricity more efficiently, with twice the user capacity of 4T4R technology. At present, the company has used the new technology in more than 700 4G base stations. Its telecommunications network has a total of 88000 base stations.

"one of the important concerns of the future communication network is energy efficiency, the core is to transmit more information with less energy, and to reduce energy consumption through information technology in the energy system."

Liang Hua said there were concerns about the energy consumption of 5G. But in fact, with the continuous deployment of 5G commercial network, the typical scenario energy consumption of 5G is not as high as many people feared. Under the same coverage capacity, it is basically on the same order of magnitude as the typical energy consumption of 4G.

Liang Hua stressed that the core of improving energy efficiency is to transmit more information with less energy. The energy consumption of 5G devices with one kilowatt-hour of electricity can support the transmission of more than 5000GB traffic, which is equivalent to downloading 5000 ultra-clear movies, while in the 4G era, the same power can only download less than 300. it can be seen that 5G is 10-20 times more energy efficient than 4G.

Why can 5G base stations maintain the same energy consumption as 4G when they have larger capacity, faster speed and more connections than 4G? Liang Hua explained that this is because Huawei has made a lot of innovation in the process of 5G product development and engineering. For example, through AI technology to achieve network collaborative energy saving, on the basis of ensuring the stability of KPI, typical wireless network equipment saves electricity by 10% to 15%; in terms of 5G site architecture, Huawei 5G minimalist all-outdoor solution can save air conditioning at base station sites and greatly reduce energy consumption.

Liang Hua said that by adopting a "combination of software and hardware" solution, Huawei as a whole achieved a 20% lower energy consumption per station than the industry average. With the continuous innovation of technology, the energy efficiency of 5G equipment is also higher, 5G will be more in line with the concept of "energy saving and emission reduction, green environmental protection".
