The three Gorges Group said that Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station, located in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River at the junction of Yibin City, Sichuan Province and Shuifu City, Yunnan Province, is the last cascade planned for the lower reaches of the Jinsha River, in addition to the benefits of power generation. at the same time, it also has comprehensive benefits such as flood control, irrigation, sand control, improvement of navigation conditions and anti-regulation of Xiluodu Hydropower Station.

CTOnews.com learned that Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station is the first large hydropower station to be put into operation since the 18th CPC National Congress. The main project of Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station began construction in November 2006, and the first batch of units were put into operation in November 2012.

Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station installed eight 800,000 kilowatt hydroelectric generating units with the largest unit capacity in the world at that time, with a total installed capacity of 6.4 million kilowatts and a designed average annual generating capacity of 30.747 billion kilowatt hours.
