According to the release of Southwest Railway, the Xiaoshan Tunnel, the first tunnel in Yunnan province of the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway, was successfully completed on September 23, marking the phased progress in the construction of the Yungui section of the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway, according to the release of the southwest railway.

The Xiaoshan tunnel is located in Daibu Town, Huize County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province. the tunnel is 257 meters long and is a single-hole and double-lane tunnel with a maximum buried depth of about 18.5 meters. it passes through the experimental area of Jimingshan Nature Reserve in Yunnan and is close to the cliff, and the geological conditions are extremely poor. there is a risk of shallow partial pressure collapse and dangerous rock fall. The tunnel body has a 30-meter-long open hole, which has gone through two times of entering and leaving the tunnel, and the construction process is complicated.

CTOnews.com learned that the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway is an important part of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network, with a total length of 699km, of which the Yunnan section is 388.6 km long, with 53 tunnels and a bridge-tunnel ratio as high as 87.4%. There are 11 stations in Yunnan, including Yanjin South, Yiliang North, Zhaotong East, Yancha, Huize, Tianba, Xundian, Songming (existing), Changshui Airport, Kunming West, Kunming South (existing) and so on.

After the completion of the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway, it will further improve the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network and strengthen the relationship between the Shuangcheng economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing area and the urban agglomeration in central Yunnan. At that time, districts and counties in Yunnan Province, such as Yanjin, Yiliang, Zhaotong, Huize and Xundian, will have direct access to Kunming urban areas and Kunming Changshui Airport through the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway, greatly improving the travel conditions of people along the line and promoting high-quality economic and social development along the line.
