CTOnews.com Sept. 27, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology today released the economic performance of the software industry from January to August 2022.

From January to August, China's software and information technology service industry (hereinafter referred to as the software industry) operated smoothly, the software business income increased steadily, the total profit growth rate dropped slightly, and the software business export growth accelerated.

The overall operation of the software business revenue has increased steadily. From January to August, the revenue of China's software business was 6.4368 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.8 percent over the same period last year, and the growth rate was 0.5 percentage points lower than that of January-July.

The growth rate of total profits slowed slightly. From January to August, the profits of the software industry totaled 695.2 billion yuan, an increase of 3.6 percent over the same period last year, and the growth rate was 3 percentage points lower than that in January-July.

The export growth of software business accelerated. From January to August, software business exports totaled US $34.4 billion, an increase of 4.8% over the same period last year, and the growth rate was 0.5% higher than that in January-July. Among them, the export of software outsourcing services increased by 6.5% compared with the same period last year.

Revenue from software products maintained growth in different areas. From January to August, the revenue of software products was 1.5836 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.2% over the same period last year, accounting for 24.6% of the industry's income. CTOnews.com learned that of this total, revenue from industrial software products was 143.8 billion yuan, an increase of 8.4 percent over the same period last year.

Revenue from information technology services has maintained relatively rapid growth. From January to August, the income of information technology services was 4.2103 trillion yuan, an increase of 10.3 percent over the same period last year, 0.5 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the industry, accounting for 65.4 percent of the industry's income. Of this total, the revenue from cloud computing and big data services totaled 630.9 billion yuan, up 7.3 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 15.0 percent of the information technology service revenue; the integrated circuit design revenue was 184.5 billion yuan, up 13.8 percent from the same period last year; and the technical service revenue from e-commerce platform was 642.4 billion yuan, up 17.9 percent from the same period last year.

The growth rate of information security revenue has increased slightly. From January to August, revenue from information security products and services totaled 110.1 billion yuan, up 12.1 percent from the same period last year, and the growth rate was 0.2 percentage points higher than that in January-July.

The growth of embedded system software revenue is accelerating. From January to August, the revenue of embedded system software was 532.8 billion yuan, an increase of 7.6% over the same period last year, and the growth rate was 1.3% higher than that of January-July.

According to the operation of different regions, the growth of software business income in the eastern region is stable, while the growth trend in the western region is leading. From January to August, the software business income of the eastern region was 5.2923 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.0% over the same period last year, which was 0.5% lower than that of January-July. The software business income of the central region was 300.6 billion yuan, an increase of 13.2% over the same period last year, which was 3.4% higher than the overall growth rate of the industry as a whole. The revenue from software business in the western region was 696.5 billion yuan, an increase of 15.0% over the same period last year, 5.2% higher than the overall growth rate of the industry as a whole, while the revenue from software business in the northeast region was 147.4 billion yuan, an increase of 8.6% over the same period last year, and the growth rate was 1.5% higher than that in January-July. The software business income of the four regions accounted for 82.2%, 4.7%, 10.8% and 2.3% of the total national income, respectively.

The share of revenue in major software provinces fell slightly. From January to August, among the top five provinces with software business revenue, the software revenue of Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang provinces was 1.3451 trillion yuan, 1.1296 trillion yuan, 816.8 billion yuan, 591.5 billion yuan and 547.7 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 8.9%, 8.8%, 6.5%, 18.0% and 3.2% respectively. The total software business income of the five provinces (cities) was 44308 yuan, accounting for 68.8% of the country. Compared with the same period last year, it fell by 0.7 percentage points.

The revenue of software business in the central city grew steadily, and the growth of total profits slowed down. From January to August, the software business income of 15 vice-provincial central cities across the country reached 3.2677 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.1 percent over the same period last year, which was 0.2 percentage points lower than that of January-July, accounting for 50.8 percent of the national software business revenue and 0.7 percentage points lower than the same period last year. The total profit was 401.1 billion yuan, an increase of 0.5% over the same period last year, and the growth rate was 5.4% lower than that in January-July. Among them, the growth rate of software business income in Qingdao, Ningbo, Jinan, Xiamen, Xi'an, Dalian, Guangzhou, Shenyang and Wuhan exceeds the overall growth rate of the industry.
