CTOnews.com, September 27 (Xinhua)-- the latest data released by auto industry data forecasting company AutoForecast Solutions (hereinafter referred to as AFS) show that production in various regions of the world was cut by about 96700 vehicles last week due to a shortage of chips. Of these, production was reduced by 54000 in North America, 25000 in other parts of Asia and only 8200 in China.

Car factories around the world are under pressure from chip shortages, but China largely survived the chip crisis in the first half of this year, the agency said. AFS predicts that as of September 25, the global car market has lost about 3.3768 million vehicles this year due to chip shortages, while the global car market has lost 8.934 million vehicles in the same period last year, almost twice as many as in the same period this year. Among them, China has reduced production of 166700 cars this year due to lack of cores, and the cumulative production reduction in the same period last year is about 10 times this number.

Cumulative production cuts in the global car market will climb to about 4.2 million by the end of the year, AFS said.
