CTOnews.com, September 26 (Xinhua) Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed that the company will open its latest UK office at London's iconic Battersea power station, two years behind schedule.

As early as 2018, Apple was first revealed that it was planning the new location for its UK headquarters. Then there were reports that Apple employees would move into the structure by 2021.

Construction of the project has been delayed due to the coronavirus epidemic, and Apple is reportedly looking for alternatives.

Now Tim Cook said on Twitter that Apple will move into the building in early 2023.

"We can't wait to open a new office for many of our team members in London at the iconic Battersea power station early next year. This is a tribute to this incredible city and reflects our commitment to the future of Apple in the UK."

At the time of the initial report, Apple was said to have eight offices in London. The Battersea power station project can combine all eight into one to accommodate about 1400 employees.

The iconic four towers of the Battersea power station made it a landmark on the south bank of London, including seeing it in Doctor who in the 1960s. But in the 1980s, generators were no longer functioning properly and had been abandoned for decades.

CTOnews.com has been informed that the Battersea power station will reopen on October 14, 2022 as a retail, leisure and commercial operation, with more than 100 shops, bars, restaurants and offices. The Battersea power station subway station opened in 2021 to serve the northern route, which means the new facility is a 15-minute drive from central London.
