Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, September 26 (Xinhua) Microsoft Surface Duo 2 dual-screen phone has been around for some time, and it is a significant improvement over the original Duo dual-screen phone. Microsoft will host a new Surface event for Surface Pro 9 and Surface Studio 3 in October, but it is not expected to include the company's next-generation Android dual-screen phones.

Microsoft Surface Duo 3 is expected to be released in 2023. It was previously reported that Surface Duo 3 was in development. Now, a new patent application has been unveiled, further proof that Microsoft is interested in joining the growing folding screen mobile phone market.

The patent application, "FOLDABLE DISPLAY DEVICE", focuses on folding screen devices, indicating that the design is expected to be used in Surface Duo 3. The application, submitted in 2021 and released earlier this year, details a very thoughtful handheld folding screen phone.

The current Surface Duo has two screens with hinges in the middle that can be rotated. Microsoft, which is believed to be a single-screen phone, is developing its successor. In the patent application, Microsoft discussed a single folding panel that can be rotated from 0 to 360 degrees.

CTOnews.com has learned that pictures in Microsoft's patent application show that folding-screen phones can seamlessly switch between tablets and one-handed smartphones. According to the document, the display screen of the folding screen phone can be bent inward and outward.

This is interesting because phones from companies such as Samsung only support the second display to fold inward. Microsoft's idea allows Surface Duo 3 to bend inward and outward, a situation that Android manufacturers have not tried so far.

Of course, patenting doesn't necessarily mean that Surface Duo 3 with this design is about to be released. However, this patent will give us a better understanding of Microsoft's ideas, and it is possible to use a similar design for Surface Duo 3 or future folding screen devices.
