CTOnews.com Sept. 26, according to the statistics of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, from January to August 2022, the top 10 SUV manufacturers sold a total of 3.952 million vehicles, accounting for 57% of the total SUV sales.

The China Automobile Association said that among the top 10 SUV manufacturers by sales, compared with the same period last year, sales of Changan Automobile, Great Wall Motor and Dongfeng Honda declined, while other companies showed growth, among which BYD and Tesla grew more significantly.

In addition, from January to August 2022, the top 10 car manufacturers sold a total of 4.399 million vehicles, accounting for 63.2% of the total car sales.

In the top 10 car manufacturers, compared with the same period last year, FAW Toyota sales showed a rapid decline, FAW Volkswagen, Dongfeng limited slightly, other enterprises showed growth, of which BYD growth rate is the most obvious.

CTOnews.com learned that data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed that from January to August, automobile production and sales completed 1696.7 and 16.86 million vehicles respectively, an increase of 4.8 per cent and 1.7 per cent respectively over the same period last year, the first double increase in production and sales since the second quarter.

In terms of passenger cars, from January to August, the production and sales of passenger vehicles completed 1480.3 million and 14.655 million respectively, an increase of 14.7% and 11.7% respectively over the same period last year, while the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 3.97 million and 3.86 million respectively, up 1.2 times and 1.1 times respectively over the same period last year.
