CTOnews.com, Sept. 25 (Xinhua)-- Apple Pay Later is a new Apple service that allows eligible customers in the United States and other regions to divide a purchase into four equal payments within six weeks. The service has reportedly been postponed to 2023 due to technical engineering challenges.

It was reported in September that Apple has applied to register the "PAY LATER" trademark, which is classified as advertising sales and financial property management, and the current trademark status is pending.

Apple announced on WWDC22 in June that Apple Pay Later would be "updated in the future" to iOS 16, but the company did not provide a specific timetable. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said in his newsletter today that the service may face delays and will be launched with the iOS 16.4 update in the spring.

"this leads me to believe that the company is not entirely sure when the Apple Pay Later will be launched. The feature may not be available until iOS 16.4 in the spring. I heard that there were considerable technical and engineering challenges in launching the service, which led to delays."

CTOnews.com has learned that Apple PayLater will be built into the Apple Wallet app and can be used for online purchases as well as in apps on iPhone and iPad. In addition to the upcoming Apple Pay Later service, the Apple Wallet app has other new features, such as the ability to track online orders.
