CTOnews.com Sept. 26, Taiwan's Industrial and Commercial Times reported that markets such as self-driving and electric cars continue to lead the rapid growth of the automotive electronics market, and MediaTek's layout in the automotive market has finally achieved results.

The legal person pointed out that MediaTek's vehicle 5G data chip has successfully entered the supply chain of European and Asian automobile brands, and will begin to gradually produce goods in the second half of this year, and it is expected that the momentum of shipments will be more significant next year.

Although the current proportion of revenue is quite limited, it shows that MediaTek products have successfully opened the market in the supply chain of pre-installed car parts, and it is expected to enter the self-driving market and gradually expand performance momentum.

The legal person pointed out that MediaTek is currently the first to integrate automotive product lines such as vehicle networking and automotive communication and entertainment systems with 5G data chips, and will gradually start mass production in the second half of the year.

MediaTek has been working on the automotive product line for at least five years and has won orders from at least one car factory in Asia and Europe as a beachhead for MediaTek to enter the automotive market. The supply chain expects that MediaTek has begun to cooperate with more global first-tier car manufacturers and major auto parts manufacturers, and neither the auto industry nor MediaTek will allow Qualcomm to monopolize in the field of automotive chips.

CTOnews.com learned, reported that MediaTek disclosed in the middle of this year, 5G chip has successfully entered the automotive supply chain, through the integration into the car network chip mode shipment, mainly Sub-6 band as the main product shipment, follow-up is expected to millimeter wave (mmWave) band 5G product line shipment, and in addition to 5G chip, 4G chip will also lock the mainstream automobile market, the follow-up shipment momentum is expected to grow gradually.

The legal person pointed out that MediaTek's automotive product line and special application chips (ASIC) currently account for less than 5% of revenue, and after automotive products begin to ship, they have the opportunity to grow into single digits. Although the proportion of revenue is still not significant, if it is expected to enter the car factory with self-driving technology in the future, revenue will have the opportunity to increase rapidly.

MediaTek's recent share price performance was affected by the impact of the market and the recent downturn in consumer demand. On the 24th, the share price fell 1.86% to NT $580, below its recent low, and has fallen back to the level of September 2020. The three major legal persons have sold more than 593 copies in total, overselling for four consecutive trading days.
