CTOnews.com Sept. 25 news, this evening, China General Nuclear Corporation (CGN) Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Project Unit 2 successfully completed the dome hoisting, marking the project from the civil construction stage to the equipment installation phase.

The dome is an important barrier for the safety of the nuclear power plant, and it is an important part of ensuring the integrity and tightness of the reactor building and realizing the inherent safety. therefore, the hoisting of the dome has become an important milestone in the construction of nuclear power plant.

Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Project plans to build six "Hualong No.1" nuclear power units, and the first phase of the project will start construction of two units in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Prior to this, Unit 1 of Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Project completed the hoisting of the dome in December 2021.

CTOnews.com learned that CGN had previously said that the total investment of the Taipingling nuclear power project is estimated to be about 120 billion yuan. After the completion of the project, the annual power generation will reach more than 50 billion kilowatt-hours, which is expected to create more than 20 billion yuan of green GDP.

Data show that "Hualong 1" is an advanced million kilowatt PWR nuclear power technology developed by China Nuclear Power Corporation and China General Nuclear Power Corporation, two major nuclear power enterprises in China, and a third-generation PWR nuclear power innovation achievement with completely independent intellectual property rights.
