Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, September 25 (Xinhua)-- Review.org surveyed 1000 US users about their streaming plans this year, and 25% of Netflix subscribers said they planned to give up the service in 2022. This is not good news for Netflix, which has been overtaken by Disney+. Disney's streaming division (Disney+ Hotstar, ESPN+ and Hulu) has 221.1 million global subscribers, compared with 220.67 million for Netflix.

Netflix lost 1.2 million users in the first two quarters of this year, including a record 970000 in the second quarter alone. So what drives Netflix subscribers out of the service? 2/3 of respondents said they planned to quit the service, mainly due to higher subscription prices.

In January, for example, Netflix's basic single-screen plan rose 11%, the first increase in three years. During the same period, the prices of standard and advanced plans rose by 20% and 25%, respectively. This does not help Netflix try to stop password sharing. Of the eight most popular streaming services in the United States, Netflix has the highest average subscription cost. This causes 30 per cent of users to share their Netflix passwords outside their homes.

To stop the bleeding, Netflix is expected to launch a lower-priced advertising service later this year. But thanks to the continued popularity of the Marvel Film Universe (MCU), this user appeal seems to have shifted to Disney+.

1/3 of respondents said there was a lack of content, saying that Netflix no longer had programs they wanted to watch. 30 per cent of respondents said they used other streaming services more often than Netflix.

According to Review.org, Americans subscribed to an average of four streaming services in 2022, CTOnews.com learned. Of the 1000 respondents, 78% subscribed to Netflix,46% and Disney+,42%, HBO Max,33% was Peacock subscriber, and 26% subscribed to Hulu. 22% signed up for Apple Apple TV+.

Subscribing to a service and using a service are two different things. Still, although 78 per cent of survey respondents subscribed to Netflix, 70 per cent used streaming health. On the other hand, although Disney+ ranks second, with 42 per cent of survey respondents subscribing, only 6 per cent actually watch it, which is just enough to win third place. HBO Max ranks second with 10 per cent.
