CTOnews.com, September 24, with the continuous development of 5G, operators in many countries and regions are actively promoting the 5G network. Samsung Electronics announced on September 22 that it had become a 5G communications equipment supplier to Comcast, the number one cable operator and the second largest Internet service provider in the United States, Businesskorea reported today.

It is reported that Samsung will provide Comcast with 5G RAN (Radio Access Network) solutions to enhance the 5G connectivity of Comcast users. Samsung said its 5G RAN products include CBRS and 600MHz RF units, baseband units and a newly developed 5G CBRS Strand Small Cell that can be deployed on Comcast aerial cable lines. By using this lightweight Small Cell product, cable operators such as Comcast can take advantage of existing DOCSIS infrastructure to provide 5G cellular connectivity more economically without having to build or acquire additional cellular sites.

According to public data, Comcast has 2460 million cable TV subscribers, 14.4 million broadband network subscribers and 5.6 million IP telephone subscribers. As the second largest Internet service provider in the United States, Comcast is second only to AT&T.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Samsung was selected as the 5G communications equipment supplier by Indian communications operator Bharti Airtel in early August. Founded in 1995, Airtel Group is the fourth largest operator in the world and the second largest operator in India, with about 490 million subscribers worldwide.
