CTOnews.com, September 23 (Xinhua)-- e-commerce retail giant Amazon announced on Wednesday that it will expand its renewable energy portfolio and develop 71 new projects around the world to provide 2.7GW 's clean energy power, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Amazon said plans to expand renewable energy include the construction of a solar power plant in Brazil, its first renewable energy project in South America, and the first solar farms in India and Poland.

According to reports, Amazon currently has 379 renewable energy projects in 21 countries, equivalent to generating electricity from 18.5GW. When Amazon's renewable energy portfolio is fully operational, it will generate electricity that can be used by 4.6 million American households for a year.

According to the data, Amazon's overall business renewable energy use reached 85% by the end of 2021, and Amazon says it is on track to achieve 100% renewable energy use by 2025.
