CTOnews.com Sept. 23, Apple poached John Sculley from Pepsi in the 1980s. Now, by 2022, Apple's Apple Music will replace the beverage company as the sponsor of what NFL calls "the most watched music show of the year."

In February 2022, Pepsi withdrew from sponsoring the halftime show, but will continue to sponsor NFL. NBC Sports reported at the time that NFL was looking for a replacement who would sponsor the show for between $40 million and $50 million a year.

Now, although it didn't disclose any terms of the deal, NFL has announced that Apple's Apple Music will sponsor the 15-minute show.

Nana-Yaw Asamoah, Senior Vice President of partner Strategy at NFL, said in a press release: "We are proud to welcome Apple Music to the NFL family as a new partner in our iconic Super Bowl halftime show." "We can't think of a better partner for the most watched music show in the world than Apple Music, a service that entertains and inspires millions of people around the world through the intersection of music and technology."

"Music and sports have a special place in our hearts," said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Apple Music and Beats. "so we are glad that Apple Music will become the biggest stage for music and rugby.

"We look forward to more epic performances from the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show next year and beyond," he continued.

According to NFL, the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in 2022 was watched by more than 120 million people, CTOnews.com learned. Super Bowl LVII will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
