Go to the Microsoft update directory and search for KB5017321. Or click here to download the .msu package.

Double-click .msu and click next to agree to the terms and conditions when asked.

Click next and install the package.

Restart the system.

Check for updates and the error should not occur again.

If this does not work, the user can try the following advanced steps to fix the error message:

Open Windows search / start and type a command prompt.

Select the command prompt entry, and then click run as administrator.

Copy and paste it into a command prompt: dism / online/ cleanup-image / startcomponentcleanup

Wait for the command to run, and finally restart the system.
