Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, September 23 (Xinhua)-- Apple today explained why the new silicone earplugs of the second generation AirPods Pro are not compatible with the original AirPods Pro.
In an updated support document, Apple said that the mesh of the original AirPods Pro earplugs was "significantly denser" than the second-generation earplugs, so it could lead to acoustic differences, but Apple did not provide any acoustic details.
The support document states: "the earplugs are designed for the AirPods Pro generation to provide the highest fidelity audio experience. Therefore, please use the earplugs that come with your AirPods Pro. The mesh of the AirPods Pro (first generation) earplugs is significantly denser than that of the AirPods Pro (second generation) earplugs."
CTOnews.com warns that although the mesh is different, AirPods Pro 2's earplugs do fit the original AirPods Pro, so they are still physically compatible.
Compared to the previous generation, the second generation earplugs offer a new XS option, while AirPods Pro earplugs are still available in small, medium and large sizes at the same price of two sets of $7.99 each.
