Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, September 22, according to the latest report from market research firm Counterpoint, MediaTek benefited from high shipments of 4G and 5G mid-and low-end chips in the second quarter, with a global market share of 39%. However, in terms of mobile chip revenue, Qualcomm continues to rank first in the world, while MediaTek ranks third.

MediaTek dominates the smartphone SoC market with 39 per cent. Driven by Helio G series and Tianji 700 series, MediaTek is in a leading position in the field of mid-and low-end wholesale prices. MediaTek's shipments fell slightly in the second quarter of 2022 compared with the previous quarter due to a decline in orders from China's major OEM. Qualcomm has a 29% share in the quarter. Despite the tough macroeconomic situation and the decline in the smartphone market, Qualcomm maintains its position at the top end of the market.

In other aspects of mobile chip shipments, Apple ranked third with 14 per cent, Ziguang ranked fourth with 11 per cent, Samsung ranked fifth with 6 per cent and Huawei Hayes ranked sixth with 0.4 per cent.

CTOnews.com learned that Qualcomm dominated the AP market with 44 per cent of revenue in the second quarter of 2022, according to the report. Qualcomm's share grew by 56% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2022, due to ASP growth due to a higher premium combination. In addition, the recently announced Galaxy S22 series partnership between Qualcomm and Samsung will support revenue from high-end products. MediaTek has a 22% share of the AP market. Qualcomm further earns revenue from the baseband that ships to Apple. MediaTek's revenue is driven by the higher 5G ASP and Tianji 9000 series entering the high-end market.

In other aspects of mobile chip revenue, Apple ranked second with 23 per cent, MediaTek ranked third with 22 per cent, Samsung ranked fourth with 8 per cent, Ziguang ranked fifth with 3 per cent, and Huawei Hayes ranked sixth with 1 per cent.
