Volvo said its new generation of pure electric flagship SUV, named EX90, will make its global debut on November 9.

CTOnews.com learned that the model had been declared in Europe and was based on the SPA2 platform, which is the same platform as Polar 3.

It is worth mentioning that this is Volvo's first pure electric flagship model, the previous new energy vehicles are mostly plug-in hybrid models, the only pure electric model is Volvo XC40 new energy version, but sales are not satisfactory, so the arrival of EX90 also represents Volvo announced the era of pure electricity.

According to reports, the Volvo EX90 will carry the lidar developed by Luminar in the United States, which is one of the lidars with the longest detection distance in the industry. under the condition of 10% reflectivity, the detection range of the lidar can reach 250 meters, and the comprehensive performance has reached the leading level of similar products in the current market.

Volvo said that with the use of technology, heavy casualties are expected to be reduced by 20%.

In addition, the lidar system will work with 5 body radars, 8 cameras and 16 ultrasonic sensors, each of which can sense the external environment with its own advantages, while introducing a security redundancy system.

In other ways, the new car will also be equipped with a DUS dual-camera driver perception system, which consists of a capacitive steering wheel and two cameras, which can obtain driver status information and integrate with autopilot algorithms. When the driver's attention is no longer focused on driving and support is needed, the engine will intervene and use external sensors to make safe driving decisions (such as reducing speed, maintaining lanes or even stopping the vehicle).

Volvo did not disclose anything about power, no mileage, no battery capacity, no motor power and so on.

However, with reference to the current Volvo XC40 technology, the probability of new cars using Ningde era batteries is higher, and it is expected that the four-wheel drive high-performance version can also achieve 4.9 seconds.
