In this regard, CNAC will add a number of new energy vehicle collision safety tests.

CNAC said that according to the characteristics of new energy vehicles, especially electric vehicles, tests such as spiral tumbling, side post collision, bottom support and electric vehicle wading will be added, which are mainly to assess the electrical safety after collision. Take the spiral roll of the electric vehicle as an example, the test vehicle passes through the ramp with an angle of 16 degrees at high speed, the roll occurs after going up the slope, and the vehicle is overturned 180 degrees. Compared with the traditional fuel vehicle, the power battery located at the bottom of the new energy body exerts additional pressure on the top of the tumbled vehicle, which puts forward more stringent requirements for vehicle structural safety, occupant protection, electrical safety and so on.

CNAC said that in addition to increasing conventional collision tests, a series of safety test projects for new energy vehicles such as falls, rear-end collisions and multi-vehicle collisions will also be carried out in the future.

CTOnews.com learned that by the end of August this year, the number of new energy vehicles in China had exceeded 10 million, reaching 10.99 million. From January to August this year, the number of new energy vehicles newly registered reached 3.22 million, double that of the same period last year.
