September 22 (Xinhua)-- US automaker General Motors said on Wednesday local time that Hummer electric pickup trucks and Hummer electric SUV orders have exceeded 90,000 vehicles, Hummer electric pickup trucks and Hummer electric SUV will no longer accept orders from Thursday local time.

It is reported that Hummer pure electric pickup and SUV are pure electric vehicles launched by GM's GMC division, with prices ranging from $85000 to $111000. GM says production of Hummer all-electric pickups and all-electric SUV has been scheduled for 2024.

Closing the booking channel is also a way for GM to focus on fulfilling existing orders. GM said it plans to close bookings for the two cars from Thursday. Any consumer who still wants a Hummer electric car must complete the reservation by Wednesday.

GM has been slowly ramping up production of Hummer electric pickups since earlier this year. By the end of June this year, the company had delivered fewer than 400 Hummer electric pickups. Hummer Electric SUV is expected to begin delivery in early 2023.

Duncan Aldred, GM's global director, said Hummer electric SUV should be produced faster than electric pickup trucks, which are, after all, the first consumer-grade car to use GM's new generation of Ultium batteries and car platforms.

"We know that this year will be a gradual increase in production capacity, but next year it will normalize," he said at the Detroit auto show last week. "when we produce the SUV, there should be a massive increase in speed... whether pickup or SUV, next year is an important year for Hummer electric cars."

GM made the decision to follow in the footsteps of Ford. Ford had previously closed its order for the Fmure 150 electric pickup truck because the order had reached about 200000. Ford also closed bookings for the Mustang Electric SUV, but later reopened it to consumers.
