CTOnews.com, September 21 (Xinhua)-- in addition to the Windows 11 2022 update, Microsoft announced that it will increase its quarterly dividend from 62 cents to 68 cents per share from December 8. This 6 cents is equivalent to a 10% increase. Microsoft said that those eligible for payment on December 8 must register as shareholders on November 17, with the de-dividend date being November 16.

Microsoft shares are now trading at $242.45, down from $334.75 a year ago. Much like other companies in the S & P 500, Microsoft shares have fallen over the past 12 months as the Fed has raised interest rates to combat inflation, making access to credit more expensive.

CTOnews.com learned that in addition to announcing a higher dividend, Microsoft said its annual shareholders' meeting would be held on December 13. As of October 12, holders of Microsoft shares will have the right to vote on any decisions that need to be made during the meeting.

The December meeting will be held by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood, President Brad Smith and Microsoft Chief Independent Director John Thompson. Interestingly, CNN Finance's insider trading hashtag on the Microsoft stock page shows that both Nadella and Hood sold multimillion-dollar shares at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, at a much higher price.
