Sept. 21 (Xinhua)-- Space company Blue Origin and partner Sierra Space announced on Tuesday local time that it had reached an agreement with production company Centerboro Productions that the Orbital Reef space station built jointly by the two companies would be put on the screen with a science fiction film and be unveiled in public.

The sci-fi film, Helios, which is scheduled to begin filming next year and is set in 2030, tells the story of how astronauts aboard a spaceship called Helios saved the International Space Station from solar flares. The "Orbital Reef" space station, which is being built jointly by Blue Origin and Sierra Space, will appear in the film as a key resource for astronauts.

The goal is to give fans a sense of what it will be like to live and work in space in the future and how to coordinate to deal with extreme weather in space, the two companies said in a press release on Tuesday.

Although Helios will begin filming next year. However, the Orbital Reef space station is still in the design stage and is not expected to be operational until 2027.

It is not known whether Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos (Jeff Bezos) will play a guest role in the film, or whether the film will be filmed on the space station. In 2016, Bezos made a guest appearance in the movie Star Trek: beyond the Stars.

In recent years, many films have been made in space. Last year, a Russian crew filmed the space movie Challenge on the International Space Station. Universal Studios plans to start shooting a film starring Tom Tom Cruise sometime next year, which may involve a manned dragon ride in SpaceX, but it has not yet been confirmed.

Amazon, founded by Bezos, has become a major player in the film industry with its Prime Video video service, but Tuesday's announcement did not mention whether Amazon would release the film. Blue Origin declined to comment.

NASA aims to decommission the International Space Station by 2030, when the commercial space stations of Axiom Space, Blue Origin, Sierra Space and other companies will be operational.
