CTOnews.com September 20 news, tonight, Nvidia officially released Ada Lovelace architecture GPU.

Huang Renxun said that Ada provides a qualitative leap for gamers and is paving the way for future games based entirely on simulation.

CTOnews.com learned that the Ada Lovelace architecture GPU streaming multiprocessor has shader capacity of up to 83 TFLOPS and twice the throughput of the previous generation. The effective ray tracing computing power of the third generation RT Cores is 191 TFLOPS, which is 2.8 times that of the previous generation. The fourth generation Tensor Cores has FP8 tensor processing performance up to 1.32 Petaflops, which is 5 times higher than that of the previous generation using FP8.

Nvidia introduced shader execution reordering (SER) technology to improve execution efficiency by immediately rescheduling shaders to make better use of GPU resources. As a major innovation like CPU's out-of-sequence execution, SER brings up to three times the performance improvement for ray tracing and up to 25% improvement in overall game performance.

In addition, the Ada Optical flow Accelerator brings a 2x performance improvement, enabling DLSS 3 to predict motion in the scene and enabling the neural network to improve the frame rate while maintaining image quality.

In terms of energy efficiency, Ada Lovelace architecture GPU uses TSMC 4N customized process technology to achieve a leap of up to 2 times the ratio of performance to power consumption.

In terms of encoders, the Ada Lovelace architecture GPU uses dual NVIDIA encoders (NVENC), which reduces the output time by up to half and supports AV1. OBS, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, Discord and more companies are already adopting NVENC AV1 encoders.

Nvidia also introduced a new ray tracing technology:

The new third-generation RT Cores can provide twice the performance of light intersecting triangles, as well as two new important hardware units. The Opacity Micromap engine increases the Alpha-Test geometry performance of RayTracing by two times, while the new Micro-Mesh engine dynamically generates micromeshes to generate additional geometry. Micro-Mesh engine can improve the richness of geometry without sacrificing the performance and storage cost of traditional complex geometry processing.
