CTOnews.com, September 20 (Xinhua)-- with the continued development of the crowdfunded multiplayer space role-playing game Interstellar Citizen, the project's official funding tracker shows that it has crossed another important milestone. Games developed by Cloud Imperium Games now claim to have raised more than $500 million from community supporters.

In November last year, the funding broke through the $400 million mark, with the latest $100 million reached in less than 10 months. June is a particularly good month for the studio, making more than $20 million in revenue during that time alone, according to the fund tracker. The studio provides a variety of in-game ships and content as an incentive to fund the continued development of the project.

Although the release date of the full multiplayer experience and star-studded campaign is still a long way off, Cloud Imperium Games continues to steadily deliver its quarterly game updates. CTOnews.com learned that the recent major update to Alpha 3.17 brought features such as Planetary River, ship-to-ship refueling in flight, and an updated booty sales system.

The next major Interstellar Citizen Alpha update 3.18 should be released soon. It will carry a salvage system for stripping ships for profit, persistent objects on all servers, sandholes, extended captive games, and so on.
