September 20, according to foreign media reports, South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy previously released news that due to the global economic slowdown, reduced demand and falling prices, South Korea's semiconductor exports fell to 10.78 billion US dollars in August, down 7.8 per cent from a year earlier.

Among the semiconductor products exported by South Korea, memory chips account for a considerable proportion. The decline in the export volume of semiconductor products means that the export value of memory chips has declined to a large extent.

The latest media reports also show that DRAM, which accounts for nearly half of South Korea's memory chip exports, fell significantly in August, down 24.7% from the same period last year and 7% from the previous month.

A large number of South Korean memory chip exports are due to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which account for nearly 2/3 of the global memory chip market. In terms of DRAM, the share of the two companies is also around 2/3.

Data released by research institutions previously showed that Samsung Electronics had a 42.7% share of the global DRAM market in the first quarter of this year, while SK Hynix's share fell month-on-month, but it was still 27.1%, and the share of the two companies was close to 70%.

South Korea's DRAM exports fell in August, which means that exports of DRAM products from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will decline, which will also affect their revenue.
