Today, Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. announced its patent for on-board charging equipment for electric vehicles and systems and methods for wirelessly charging electric vehicles.

According to the patent application, the current electric vehicle charging technology can be divided into in-vehicle charging (on-board charging,OBC), non-in-vehicle charging and wireless charging (wireless charging,WC). The patent provides a solution to the problem of low integration of traditional wireless charging and traditional vehicle charging systems.

CTOnews.com has learned that the patent summary shows that the patent is an in-vehicle charging device for electric vehicles, and that the in-vehicle charging device shows a higher power density at a significantly lower cost. For the specific configuration of vehicle charging equipment, it includes:

Power input, including power factor correction (power factor correction,PFC) converter

City Power side DC / AC Converter

Transformer with city side coil and battery side coil

Battery side AC / DC converter

Battery connector

One or more bypass switches are used for electrically connecting the city side converter to the battery side converter when closed.

Wherein, the transformer is used for the TX pad magnetically coupled to the external radio energy transmitter (wireless power transmitter,WPT), so that the electric power side coil and the battery side coil receive electric energy. When the bypass is opened and closed and the transformer is magnetically coupled to the WPT, electric energy is transmitted to the battery connector through the battery side converter and the city side converter.
