CTOnews.com, September 20, Microsoft announced today that Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) is now available on personal enabled (COPE) devices owned by Android Enterprise (AE).

These devices allow enterprises and employees to install applications, unlike companies that manage all aspects of the device and control which applications are available and other registration modes that can be installed.

This update adds existing support for registered devices for AE bring-your-own device (BYOD), AE full hosting mode, legacy device administrator mode, and unregistered Mobile Application Management (MAM) devices.

CTOnews.com learned that this release further enhances MDE's products, as well as recent updates to protect mobile devices on Wi-Fi and isolate damaged Windows devices. It provides the IT team with a series of more effective Android mobile threat defense tools.

The COPE architecture allows containerized tools, such as work data, to separate personal data from work data and the applications for each data, and gives administrators complete control over work data, with limited visibility to personal data.

This means that users of these devices can have access to the privacy of their personal data, while companies that publish devices can make full use of the features provided by MDE and be able to enforce policies correctly.
