One of the most important features is the "up-to-the-sky" technology, which is the world's first mass smartphone to support Beidou satellite messages.

According to Sohu Technology, this function is only free for a certain period of time. The function page says, "start the Beidou satellite service for the first time and complete the registration. You can experience 30 free quotas per month. On the last day of the month, you will clear zero at 24:00 and recharge the new quota."

So how will the Mate 50 satellite communications function be charged in the future? Huawei PR responded to Sohu Technology that there are 30 free quotas per month during the public test, and the subsequent commercial plan will be made according to the public test.

CTOnews.com learned that Huawei said that the Mate 50 series is the first mass smartphone in the world to support Beidou satellite messages, which can still send messages through the "Beidou Satellite message" service in Changlian App, keep in touch with the outside world, and support one-click generation of trajectory maps even without ground network coverage.

In addition, all brands of mobile phones can receive Beidou satellite messages (ordinary text messages) when there is a network on the ground. if you are a Huawei mobile phone and Changlian version is 2.1.23.327 or above, you can also receive satellite messages through Changlian (card mode).

Of course, this feature is only available in Chinese mainland regions (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), and only supported by Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, Mate 50 RS Porsche designs (excluding Mate 50e).

In addition, Huawei officials also mentioned in introducing this feature that some other models can also support satellite communications through software upgrades, such as Huawei Mate Xs 2, while other models cannot support this function through software upgrades, that is, hardware limitations.
