CTOnews.com, September 20 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Apple's latest iPhone 14/Pro series of new phones have added a new barrier-free feature that allows new phones to play sounds during startup and shutdown, similar to Mac's iconic boot sound, which can be turned on or off in iOS 16 settings.

However, this switch sound effect is unique to Apple's iPhone 14 / Pro series, and other older iPhone models upgraded to iOS 16 are not available. According to foreign media 9To5Mac, this restriction is due to the fact that the sound effect of the switch is not part of the operating system.

When the iPhone displays the Apple logo, the phone is in the bootstrap bootrom phase, while the on / off sound effect is built into the bootstrap and embedded in the A16 / A15 bionic firmware, while the bootstrap bootrom is read-only and cannot be modified afterwards. As a result, Apple cannot add this switch sound to the old iPhone before the iPhone 14 / Pro series.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple iPhone 14 / Pro series users can manage the sound effects of the switch under the "accessibility" of the Settings app. Note that there seems to be a Bug in the iOS 16.1 beta and cannot play the sound effects of the switch.
