CTOnews.com, September 20, according to BusinessKorea, South Korea's Ministry of Land and Transport released its mobile innovation roadmap on September 19. According to it, L4 self-driving buses are expected to be put into commercial use in 2025, and the same technology is expected to be used in private cars in 2027. The ministry plans to commercialize L3 autopilot later this year, trailing only Japan and Germany.

In addition, the ministry plans to launch its first urban air traffic (UAM) service in South Korea in 2025. The service is expected to serve airport users between downtown Seoul or Beijing and Incheon and Kimpo airports. According to the road map, a number of vertical airports will be built in major cities by 2030 to better connect airports, railway stations and bus terminals.

CTOnews.com learned that the roadmap also mentions delivery robots in apartment buildings and urban areas, UAM services at the 2030 Busan World Expo, and plans to designate self-driving highway lanes for testing purposes in the first half of next year.

The Ministry is also studying super high-speed rail technology to launch logistics services ranging from 800 km / h to 1200 km / h in 2040. Super high-speed rail passenger transport has not yet been included in the ministry's roadmap.
