How do I create, manage, and delete Azure Migrate projects? I believe that many novices do not know how to manage Azure Migrate projects, through the summary of this article, I hope you can gain something.
1. Create a project and add tools
Set up a new Azure Migrate project in the Azure subscription and add tools.
The Azure Migrate project is used to store discovery, evaluation, and migration metadata collected from the environment being evaluated or migrated.
In a project, you can track discovered assets and schedule evaluations and migrations.
Select all Services in the Azure portal, and then search for Azure Migrate.
two。 Under Services, select Azure Migrate.
\
3. In Overview, click evaluate and migrate servers.
4. In Server, click add tool.
5. Select your Azure subscription in the "Migration Project" and create a resource group (if not).
6. In Project details, specify the project name and geographic location in which you want to create the project.
Azure Migrate can now be created in any of the following geographic locations: United States, Asia Pacific, Europe, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, India, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, France
The geolocation specified for the project is used only to store metadata collected from the local VM. You can select any target area for the actual migration.
If you want to specify a specific area within a geographic location to deploy the migration project and its associated resources (the policy restrictions in the subscription may only allow the deployment of Azure resources to specific Azure areas), you can use the following API to create the migration project. Specify the subscription ID, resource group name, migration project name, and location (any Azure regions mentioned in the table where Azure Migrate is deployed).
7. Click next and add an evaluation or migration tool.
8. In Select an Evaluation tool, add an evaluation tool. If you do not need an evaluation tool, select Skip adding an Evaluation tool temporarily > next. Here we choose Azure Migrate:Server Assessment, which is a free tool provided by Microsoft
9. In Select Migration tool, add the migration tool as needed. If you do not need migration tools now, please select "skip adding migration tools" > "next". Here we choose Azure Migrate:Server Migration.
10. In View and add tools, review the settings, and then click add tools.
After you create the project, you can choose other tools for evaluating and migrating servers, databases, and web applications.
2. Create other projects
If you already have an Azure Migrate project and want to create another project, do the following:
In the Azure portal, search for Azure Migrate.
On the Azure Migrate dashboard > server, select change in the upper-right corner.
3. To create a new project, select Click here.
3. Find items
Find the project, as follows:
In the Azure portal, search for Azure Migrate.
In the Azure Migrate panel > Server, select change in the upper-right corner.
Select the appropriate subscription and Azure Migrate project.
4. Delete items
Delete, as follows:
Open the Azure resource group in which the project was created.
On the Resource groups page, select Show Hidden types.
3. Select the migration project and its associated resources to delete.
Resource type is "migrateprojects".
If the Azure Migrate project specifically uses resource groups, you can delete the entire resource group.
Note the following points:
When you delete, the project and metadata about the discovered computer are deleted.
If you are using an older version of Azure Migrate, open the Azure resource group where the project was created. Select the migration project you want to delete (the resource type is Migration Project).
If you use the Azure Log Analytics workspace for dependency analysis:
If a Log Analytics workspace is attached to the server evaluation tool, it is not automatically deleted. The same Log Analytics workspace can be used for multiple scenarios.
If you want to delete the Log Analytics workspace, do so manually.
