September 19, according to foreign media reports, Japan Central Electric Power Company said on Sunday that it would join private equity firm Japan Industrial partner (JIP) to conduct due diligence on the possible acquisition of Japanese conglomerate Toshiba.

According to previous reports, Toshiba is looking for privatisation or other options, and the bidding team for the Toshiba consortium, which includes Bain Capital, CVC Capital Partners, Brookfield Asset Management and a consortium of JIP and state-backed Japanese investment companies, has entered the second round of bidding.

JIP has contacted more than 10 companies, including Central Electric Power, Orix and Japan Central Railway Company (JR Central), to join its consortium.
