CTOnews.com Cryptocurrencies fell to new lows on Monday due to regulatory concerns, global investors shunning risky assets and an imminent rise in global interest rates, Reuters reported.

Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market cap, fell about 5 percent to $18387, reaching a three-month low.

CTOnews.com has learned that ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency, fell 3 percent to a two-month low of $1285, dropping more than 10 percent in the last 24 hours. Most of the other smaller tokens were in larger declines.

The token's value has fallen due to speculation that SEC Chairman Gary Gensler's comments last week suggested the new structure could attract additional regulation. Trading around the escalation was also unwound.

Matthew Dibb, chief operating officer of Singapore crypto platform Stack Funds, said of the regulatory outlook: "This is speculation about what may or may not happen. "Given global tensions, it added that ether could fall to $950 in the coming months.

"The situation is not very good, both fundamentally and technically. There are no immediate bullish factors, no significant new funds and liquidity that will support these markets. "
